How To Be Your Best Self

Life… It’s so easy to get caught up in it’s day-to-day stresses and seemingly never ending to do lists.

While it’s important to chase any dream or goal with your whole heart, it’s just as important to give yourself a real break – and no, we don’t just mean sitting on the couch or watching TV!

With the modern day stresses of life, we understand this can be easier said than done. So today, we’re here to talk about rediscovering enjoyment in life through true everyday relaxation.

1. Slow down
When we really slow down, it’s easy to tap into the best versions of ourselves. This might mean committing to that early morning yoga class, going for a run, or taking time out of your day to meditate. Really, it’s whatever works for you and allows you to enjoy time with yourself without thinking about what comes next. When we allow the pressures of work and the expectations of others to build up, true relaxation can become difficult. Take evasive action to slow down and let yourself breathe.

2. Productivity not Procrastination
Spending all day binge watching your favourite Netflix series can be great, but is it really relaxing?

It’s easy feel guilty about ways you could be using your time better. We need to learn how to relax even in the midst of our day-to-day lives.

If your to do list for the day is a little overwhelming, take 5 minutes to prioritise what you need to do. By systemically doing one thing at a time, you will feel less stressed and probably get everything done a lot quicker.

When we try doing everything at once, we put unnecessary pressure on ourselves and inevitably make it impossible to relax. Once you’ve completed your list, you can reward yourself with a guilt free conscience making binge watching Netflix a whole lot more enjoyable!

3. Why not make a change?
A change can often be as good as rest. If you feel stuck in a never ending routine, it’s easy to become unhappy and miss out on enjoying life.

Set yourself a goal that allows you to put yourself in a completely new environment, this could simply be running, daily walks, yoga, or even a ceramics class.

By putting yourself in a fresh environment, you’re creating a space you can let go of stress and enjoy the little moments.

And most importantly, don’t make this a one-off. Truly commit to that yoga class, or those daily walks – even just once a week. This will provide you with a space that regularly allows you to escape those never ending to do lists. Soon, it will become a habit and be something you’re always looking forward to!
